Boldyrev demonstrated that mechanochemical reactions of solids in the presence of water can be considered as hydrothermal ones. The products of mechanochemical synthesis for a series of reactions were found to be similar to the products of hydrothermal reactions. These reactions include the synthesis of CaO-FeO-2Si02 (gedenbergite) [31] and calcium hydrosilicates, eg., 5Ca0-6Si02-7H20 [32], as well as others. [Pg.3]

On the basis of the data obtained, the authors conclude that mechanical activation of the mentioned mixtures leads either to partial interaction (in the case of anhydrous oxides) or to profound interaction (in the case of hydrated oxides). In the second case, the reaction completes with the formation of X-ray amorphous calcium hydrosilicates belonging to tobermorite group and being crystallized under heating in the form of vollastonite p-CaSi03. [Pg.88]

Calcium hydrosilicates compose a wide range of different compounds [26], One of them is tobermorite, Cas(0H)2Si60i5-4H20. It is an important material, since it has brilliant physicochemical properties, for example low density 0.5 g/cm, good ion exchange characteristics. In [27], tobermorite was synthesized by mechanical activation of a mixture of calcium hydroxide and silica in the presence of water at room temperature ... [Pg.88]

The preparahon of calcium hydrosilicates with Ca/Si = 2 by means of mechanical treatment was inveshgated in [29]. It is known that it is very difficult to obtain hydrosihcates characterized by the ratio Ca/Si = 2 by any method including hydrothermal synthesis. The mixture under activation was 2CaO+Si02 (sihca gel) + 2-fold excess of water (with respect to theoretical amount). Activation resulted in the formation of X-ray amorphous hydrosilicate differed from that prepared by hydrothermal synthesis it was a mixture of monomers and dimers. [Pg.89]

The mechanical properties of porous concrete depends on macro structural defects and composition of calcium hydrosilicates. An exact estimation of these parameters is very important in porous concrete technology. [Pg.536]

These methods, along with analysis methods for determining the composition of calcium hydrosilicates (X-ray analysis, differential thermal analysis, etc.) do not demonstrate a direct relationship between macrostructure defectivity and mechanical properties. Thus, all of these methods can not be used to control technological processes. These parameters can not be taken into consideration as methods of analysis for solid phases calls for sophisticated instrumentation and equipment. [Pg.536]

The linear dimensions of the destructed layer and average ratio of the strength of the contact layer to the punch displacement (Rc/ ). The former allows the optimum pore size to be designed, the latter allows estimation of the influence of the features of the composition of calcium hydrosilicates on the strength of the concrete. From the experimental data it can be concluded that the perfect composition of calcium hydrosilicates gives the value of the previously mentioned ratio near 100. [Pg.540]
