Cadmium picrate

Cadmium Picrate. [C6H2(N02)30] 2Cd, mw 569.70, N 14.76%, yel powd which explds violently at 336—41°. Was obtained by heating one of its hydrates at 80—150°. Silberrad and Phillips (Ref 2) reported on the hepta- and pentahydrates, while Hopper (Ref 3) reported on the octahydrate. Sensitivity of the anhydr salt is 12" vs 14" for TNT, as detd with the PicArsn app using a 2kg wt. The value for the octahydrate is 35", making it less sensitive than BlkPdr dust...

Chlorpromazine formed an insoluble 1 1 complex with lead picrate, and 5 3 complexes with the picrates of cadmium, copper, and zinc [70]. The sample (0.1 g) was dissolved in 15 mL of 95% ethanol, and the solution adjusted to pH 9 with 0.1 N NaOH. After adding 25 mL of a 0.02 M picrate reagent (30 mL of Pb), the solution was set aside for 2 hours. The precipitate was collected on a sintered glass fuimel, and the unconsumed metal in the filtrate was titrated directly with 0.02M EDTA at pH 10.4 (after adding 0.5 g of potassium sodium tartrate for Pb). Eriochrome black T was used as the indicator. 

A number of salts of narcotine were prepared 41-50)—some for oral use, since they are less bitter 47-49). Regeneration from its picrate with an anion-exchange resin proceeds with an almost quantitative yield 41). Fluorescence of complexes of narcotine with manganese chloride and cadmium halides was studied 51, 52). 

L-Hydroxyproline has been isolated from gelatin, hemoglobin and other proteins by other procedures but few, if any, of the products were proved to be pure. L-Hydrox3rproline was first isolated by Fischer (281) by crystallization from a gelatin hydrolyzate from which glycine had been removed as its ethyl ester hydrochloride and the diamino acids as their phosphotungstates. Other workers (1, 3, 183, 729) have followed this procedure. Methods have been described for the isolation of hydroxyproline by means of its picrate (466), cadmium chloride complex (441),... 

L-Proline is isolated (as picrate) in about 10% yield from gliadin b7 the method of Town (795, 797). Gliadin is hydrolyzed with HjSO, the acid is removed as BaSO, CuCOg or Cu(0H)3 is added to the filtrate, the precipitated copper salts are dried and granulated by treatment with dry acetone, the acetone is removed, and the dry residue is extracted with dry methanol, the methanol is evaporated, the residue is dissolved in water, copper is removed from the solution as CuS, the filtrate is evaporated, ethanol is added, the suspension of tyrodne is filtered, an alcoholic solution of cadmium chloride is added, the precipitate is dissolved in water, the cadmium and chloride ions are removed, and picric acid is added to the filtrate.
