INDO/S Kotzian M, RoschN, Zemer MC (1992) Theor Chim Acta 81 201 (b) ZINDO/S is a version of INDO/S with some modifications, plus the ability to handle transition metals. The Z comes from the name of the late Professor Michael C. Zemer, whose group developed the suite of (mostly semiempirical) programs called ZINDO, which includes ZINDO/S. ZINDO is available from, e.g., Molecular Simulations Inc., San Diego, CA, and CAChe Scientific, Beaverton, OR. INDO and ZINDO are available in some program suites, e.g. Gaussian [55]...

Molecular mechanics calculation (MM) is the computational method most familiar to bench chemists (6, 7). Many kinds of software are on the market and are successfully used to address the conformational properties of various organic molecules. Since the programs have some limitations in dealing with weak interactions, crown ether-alkali metal complexes and related systems have hardly been examined. We applied the "extended MM2 program" (CAChe Scientific, version 3.0) to design Ag(I) ion-specific carriers (8). Because interaction between Ag(I) and donor atoms of the carrier is adequately strong, the MM2 calculation is applicable in such a case.

The inbox concept is particularly interesting for documentation systems, like ELNs. According to paper laboratory notebook rules, a scientist is not permitted to write to another notebook besides his own. The same applies to ELN software An external system like an agent will not be able to insert data into an electronic scientific document without user interaction. The inbox plays here the role of a database cache in between an external system and the secured notebook database. The scientist can take a look at the inbox items and can decide which item he wants to insert into his document.
