The distribution of cycloprotobuxine D (13a) in various parts of Buxus microphylla has been described. The same species has yielded also cycloprotobuxine C (13b), cyclovirobuxine C (13c),... 

The isolation of several alkaloids from Buxus microphylla Sub. et Zucc. var. sinica Rehd. et Wils. has been described. Buxtauine (major alkaloid), bux-aminol E, cyclokoreanine B, cyclovirobuxine D, buxpiine, and buxamine E were identified by comparison with authentic samples. In addition, four new alkaloids, of which structures are not yet determined, were isolated.
