An area which you may be involved in is justifying expenditure on a specific safety irritiative. Recommendations for a safety initiative m come from various sources such as the safety committee, safety representatives, unions and the management. 

The key thing to appreciate when recommendations are being made is to establish clearly that  

Yom jnstification shonld clearly identify that the benefits ontweigh the costs of the expenditnre. This is a key factor in gaining approval for safety initiatives from senior management. Cost/benefit is difficnlt to establish for diseases which are a long time showing np. A different jnstification for prevention mnst be nsed.
