California has also decided not to ban the deca compound. Its legislation eliminating the use of penta- and octa-bromodiphenyl ether will take effect on January 1, 2008. The ban is not expected to have a major effect on the market when it comes into force. Other American states have different policies. In New York State, it is forbidden under A9207 (April 1, 2004) to manufacture products containing more than one-tenth of one per cent of penta, octa or deca BDE. Washington State has also moved against all three compounds. [Pg.190]
