Bright light exposure

Once you can get up at a consistent hour, you will likely be sleeping between seven to nine hours each night- But if you re still getting more than nine hours of sleep because you fall asleep too early, try to stay awake fifteen minutes later each night- It may help to use bright light exposure late in the day, between 5 p.m. and 7 p-m-, to push back the time that you fall asleep-... [Pg.165]

DNPD is a member of the p-phenylenediamine family of AOs however, it is used more as an effective antioxidant and copper inhibitor (to prevent copper from degrading the cured rubber compound) than it is as an antiozonant (which is how most p-phenylenediamines are used). One to two parts per hundred rubber (phr) of DNPD will impart good heat and oxidative aging resistance with many different types of rubber. DNPD is relatively low staining compared to many other amine AOs. But DNPD can cause some discoloration with bright light exposure. [Pg.341]

In the absence of catalysts, toluene when treated with chlorine (or bromine) at the boiling point, preferably with exposure to sunlight or other bright light source, undergoes halogenation in the side chain. The entrance of the first chlorine atom, for example, proceeds at a much faster rate than the entrance of the second chlorine atom so that in practice the major portion of the toluene is converted into benzyl chloride before appreciable chlorination of benzyl chloride occurs ... [Pg.534]

It is a violently explosive solid, which should be used only in solution, and on a small scale [1]. It exploded violently under ice-water [2], or on exposure to bright light [3],... [Pg.216]

Her voice is soft and smooth as silk, barely audible at times as a result of chemical exposures. In addition to chemicals she is extremely sensitive to light and sound, including the sound of her own voice. When I asked her to speak a little more loudly to ensure that her voice would be recorded on tape, she responded incredulously with, You mean Tm not shouting Her eyes are beautiful reflecting pools often hidden behind dark glasses, because her eyes turn blood red and burn when exposed to bright light. [Pg.129]

Avoid exposure to bright lights (i.e., sun lamps) for one to three hours prior to bedtime, since this can throw off your body s biological clock. [Pg.91]

Intramolecular hydrogen-transfer to an excited imine is responsible for the photochromism of derivatives of salicylaldehyde (o-hydroxybenzaldehyde) irradiation converts the colourless or yellow imine into a much more intensely coloured photoproduct 15.9), but removal of the light source allows rapid reversal of the process. Reactions of this kind form the basis of some organic photochromic glass formulations exposure to increasingly bright light alters the proportion of the isomers in favour of the dark-coloured photoproduct. [Pg.145]

Exposure to bright light, for example to a concentrated beam of the sun s rays or to the electric arc, produces an increase in the proportion of the. -modification in liquid sulphur. A similar effect is observable even in solution if a solution of sulphur in carbon disulphide is similarly illuminated, insoluble sulphur gradually separates the reverse change occurs in the dark.7 The conclusion can therefore be drawn that in solution also there is an equilibrium between the A- and p-forms at the ordinary temperature, but that except under the influence of light the concentration of p-sulphur is not sufficient to cause separation of Llic corresponding solid. [Pg.18]

A remarkable property of the sulphides of the alkaline earth metals and of beryllium and zinc is their power, when certain impurities are present, to exhibit phosphorescence after exposure to bright light. The phenomenon is not due to slow oxidation and is still observable in samples which have been kept hermetically sealed for years it is obvious, therefore, that the effect is a physical one and not analogous to the phosphorescence observable with sulphur (p. 37). The nature and amount of impurity present considerably affect the phosphorescence, chlorides for example causing an increase some impurities inhibit the action.2... [Pg.63]

Aim your camera about three feet from your composition. Anchor the camera to a table or surface with tape or clay. With your composition in bright sun, expose (open your black flap) for one to three seconds. In cloudy bright light, open your shutter for four to eight seconds. If possible, take three different exposures of the same composition, but for different lengths of time. [Pg.306]
