Break rings

Electron-withdrawing substituents reduce the nucleophilic strength of N but favor N —H breaking. Ring transformations of hydrazones (33) are catalyzed by Cu"-acetate <93JCS(Pl)249i>. [Pg.188]

Each hour, also check on three ampoules the length of the ampoules, sealing, particles, break ring presence, or any printing and note down in X and R charts for parenterals. [Pg.831]

SiAlON (Si3N4-Al203) ceramics reinforced with BN powder are used as break rings in continuous casting and for nozzles. The addition of BN provides better thermal shock resistance [127]. [Pg.19]

They proposed that 1-butene is obtained from ethylene by intermediate (I) in which breaking one bond and hydrogen shift occurs. 2-Butene is produced by double-bond isomerization, and propylene is formed from ethylene and 2-butene by breaking ring bonds Cj —C2 and C3 C4 of structure (II). [Pg.60]

Steroid analogue (45) has four rings. One is aromatic, so we can ignore that. The obvious first disconnection breaks ring B—the middle of the other three —so that is good strategy. [Pg.315]

PRIORITY is a value representing the initial plausibility of the transform, before consideration of the reaction site context. Values range from -50 to 100. CHARACTER describes what kinds of structural modifications the transform can make, e.g., ALTERS GROUP, BREAKS RING. [Pg.106]

Crucible and structural material in metallurgical applications, for example, as a break ring in the casting nozzles. Cross-sections of 50-250 mm diameters are now in use. The break ring determines the zone in which the liquid steel forms a solid. [Pg.51]

Figure 7. Theta strip after tests to break rings 3 and 6. Rings 2, 5, and 8 had been broken previously. Rings I and 9 were tack glued in place to help hold the strip in place. Both sides of ring 3 (large arrow) are still attached to the base, even though the web has fractured out. The top cap of ring 3 broke off and landed to the right (small arrow). Each theta ring has a 300 pm diameter. Figure 7. Theta strip after tests to break rings 3 and 6. Rings 2, 5, and 8 had been broken previously. Ampoules with a ceramic break band the break ring in the neck of the ampoules are made with a ceramic paint, which shrinks faster than glass during the cooling process. The tension that arises thus eases breaking. [Pg.527]

OPC (one point cut) ampoules are cut at one point of the break ring. On the place of the notch a coloured dot is applied on the upper part of the neck of the ampoule. OPC-ampoules give the least chance of glass splinters if the correct breaking technique is used. [Pg.527]

They are formed by heating dibasic acids or their anhydrides with ammonia. The hydrogen atom of the NH group is acidic and can be replaced by a metal. Mild hydrolysis breaks the ring to give the half amide of the acid. See succinimide and phthalimide. [Pg.214]

Cyclic structures Rings are described by breaking the ring between two atoms and then labeling the two atoms with the same number. [Pg.28]

Any bond of a ring can be broken without fragmenting the compound (path 1 on the left-hand side), whereas breaking a bond in a chain results in two fragments (path 2 on the right-hand side). Some reactions require the bonds being broken or made in a reaction to be aligned with other parts ti- or free electrons) of a molecule. These requirements are called stereoelectronic effects. Figure 3-6f shows that the bromide ion has to open a bro-monium ion by an anti attack in order that the new bond is formed concomitantly with the breaking of one bond of the three-membered ring. [Pg.178]

In contrast to the 4-hydroxy isomers, the thermally stable 5-hydroxy-THISs add to the C=C bond of cyclopropenylidenes (4. 18, 27. 28). The adducts eliminate carbonyl sulfide, and the strained bond breaks resulting in ring-expansion with formation of pyridin-4-ones. -thiones, or -imines. or 4-alkylidenedihydropvridines (20, X = 0. S.NR. or CRR ) (Scheme 19). [Pg.10]

This suggests that as water attacks the bromonium ion positive charge develops on the carbon from which the bromine departs The transition state has some of the character of a carbocation We know that more substituted carbocations are more stable than less substituted ones therefore when the bromonium ion ring opens it does so by breaking the bond between bromine and the more substituted carbon... [Pg.260]
