Boiling beads

Sample Digestion. Samples (1-5 g or mL) are weighed or pipetted into 100 mL micro KJeldahl flasks containing 2 glass boiling beads. Depending on sample size, 3-5 mL of concentrated HNO3,... [Pg.93]

Elute the proteins by boiling beads in lx SDS sample buffer. [Pg.269]

Using boiling beads in the molten material to prevent large bubbles from forming. [Pg.226]

Spit (evaporation) A molten droplet of the evaporant ejected from the molten surface. Spits generally result from vapor bubbles rising through the molten material. See also Boiling beads. [Pg.701]

Note 1). The mixture is heated with a mantle with stirring for 32 hr under a 50-cm fractionating column packed with 5-nm glass beads and topped by a Dean-Stark trap. The reaction mixture is then distilled through the packed column. The fraction which boils at 120 -126°C is collected. The yield is 86.0-87.3 g (77-78%) of 2,2-dimethyl-4-pentenal (1) as a clear, colorless oil, n 1.4216 (Note 2). [Pg.126]

Bead Processes. These processes have generally replaced the above techniques. The styrene is polymerised by bead (suspension) polymerisation techniques. The blowing agent, typically 6% of low boiling petroleum ether fraction such as n-pentane, may be incorporated before polymerisation or used to impregnate the bead under heat and pressure in a post-polymerisation operation. [Pg.457]

The beads prepared above (11.58 g.) are suspended in 175 ml. of boiling absolute ethanol, and 0.94 g. (0.0159 mole) of aqueous 85% hydrazine monohydrate is added with stirring. The resulting mixture is refluxed for 10 hours, after which the polymer is collected by filtration and washed with 150-ml. portions of ethanol, aqueous 0.2A sodium hydroxide, distilled water, and anhydrous methanol. After vacuum drying at 60° for four hours, the yield of polymeric benzylamine is 10.38 g. [Pg.96]

Ethylene Dibromide. Technical material was washed three times with concentrated sulfuric acid, rinsed with water, and dried over calcium chloride. It was then distilled through 1 foot of glass beads. The fraction boiling between 130.2° and 131.2° C. was used. Every third day an aqueous solution was prepared by weighing approximately 0.5000 gram of ethylene dibromide into 2000.0 grams of water. It was stored in a dark bottle to minimize light decomposition. [Pg.203]

The immune complexes (beads) are washed 3 times with lysis buffer, and then 20 /il of 1 x SDS-PAGE sample buffer are added and the samples boiled for 5 min. The supernatant is subjected to SDS-PAGE, followed by western blotting. [Pg.166]

Pre-expansion a steam flow heats the beads of EPS, which are expanded to about 40 times their original size by the boiling of the pentane. Thus, a closed-cell foam is formed. [Pg.739]
