Blue-grey pigmentation

A 65-year-old white woman developed diffuse blue-grey pigmentation on the hard palate mucosa and on the pretibial skin. She had taken chloroquine diphosphate for rheumatoid arthritis for 3 years. 

Skin Skin photosensitivity and blue-grey pigmentation are rarely seen adverse effects of amiodarone which are mainly reported in elderly patients [18]. 

Blue-black pigmentation involving the palate and facial, pretibial, and subungual areas occurs rarely, but it has been associated with retinopathy (SEDA-11, 584). The nail bed can turn blue-brown and the nail itself may develop longitudinal stripes and show a blue-grey fluorescence (SEDA-11, 584).

A coloring pigment is used to provide the coating color, usually white, blue, grey or yellow. The selected color does not influence the material performance however, it is a useful tool in order to evaluate the application coverage and the achieved thickness. 

A 70-year-old man developed grey-blue pigmentation on sun-exposed areas of his skin after taking amiodarone for 10 years and minocycline for 4 years (197). 

In the fourth decade signs of pigment staining appear (onchrosis) with slate blue or grey colouring of the ear cartilage. 

Blue Basic Lead Sulfate (Blue Lead) n Avariant ofwhite basic lead sulfate containing 78% monobasic lead sulfate. It is not actually a blue pigment, but has a dark grey or slate color. See Basic Lead Sulfate. 

Crossite is a sodium-rich memher of the amphibole group (. v.) of minerals. It is not currently known as a pigment, hut it is commonly found in geological association with the minerals glauco-phane and riebeckite, which have been encountered in grey-blue...
