Dynamic properties blends

Interfacial adhesion and, thereby, compatibility can be enhanced by the selective crosslinking reaction in polymer blends. Inoue and Suzuki [26] reported the properties of blends dynamically crosslinked PP-EPDM blends. The crosslinking agent was yV,N -/w-phenylene-bismaleimide - poly(2,2,4 - trimethyl - 1,2-dihydroquino -line) system. Increase in interfacial adhesion leads to... [Pg.640]

The static and dynamic mechanical properties, creep recovery behaviour, thermal expansion and thermal conductivity of low-density foams made of blends of LDPE and EVA were studied as a function of the EVA content of the blends. These properties were compared with those of a foam made from a blend of EVA and ethylene-propylene rubber. A knowledge of the way in which the EVA content affects the behaviour of these blend foam materials is fundamental to obtaining a wide range of polyolefin foams, with similar density, suitable for different applications. 9 refs. [Pg.78]

In the present section an attempt is made to describe both stress-optical and dynamic properties of blends in terms of those of the components, using a more detailed, but simple equivalent mechanical model. We consider a (binary) blend as consisting of domains of Polymer 2 dispersed in Polymer 1. These domains are thought to be coupled in series-parallel fashion. The simple analysis of the stress-optical coeffi-... [Pg.212]

EPR/PP Blends Lee and Chen [1983] investigated gamma-radia-tion-induced changes in the dynamic properties of PP, EPR and PP/EPR blends (Table 11.9). EPR pellets were ground in a Thomas-Wiley laboratory mill, and the EPR powder was dried at RT. PP powder was dried at 80°C in a vacuum oven for 2 h. The dried resins were mixed in a kneader, extruded using a single-screw machine and pelletized. The pellets were dried in the vacuum oven... [Pg.801]

Typically a 50/50 blend of nitrile rubber and polypropylene is melt mixed with 5% maleated PP and 1% ATBN respectively and then cured with SnClj (0.5%). The resistance to hot oil swell (72 hr, 100°C) of NBR/PP blend is significantly better than that of EPDM/PP blend. Typical properties of the commercial dynamically cured NBR/PP blend (Geolast ) are compared with other such blends in Table 15.13. [Pg.1061]

The hole fraction, h, computed from the PVT data, was found to correlate with the static (thermodynamic equilibrium) and dynamic properties (e.g., flow of polymers) [Utracki, 1986 2005], as well as their blends, foamed compositions [Utracki and Simha, 2001a,b], composites, and nanocomposites (see Chapter 14). [Pg.252]
