Periodically, based on drilling conditions and experience, a magnetic particle inspection should be performed using a wet fluorescent and black light method. [Pg.735]

The near UV spectral range is divided in three bands the short wave band or UV-C emission runs from 180 to 280 nm with a peak at 254 nm. The medium wave band or UV-B runs from 280 to 320 nm with a peak at 312 nm, while the UV-A long wave band runs from 320 to 380 nm with a peak at 365 nm. The long wave emission is commonly called "Black light" or "Wood s light". Only the UV-A portion of the lamp spectrum is useful for UV reflectivity measurements, since wavelengths under 400 nm are cut off by the glass optics of the objective. However, the full power of the lamp is used for UV fluorescence measurements. [Pg.524]

Prepare Van Urk reagent by adding 0.5 g p-dimethylamino-benzaldehyde, 100 ml water, 100 ml concentrated sulfuric acid. Dissolve 1 mg substance in 1 ml ethanol and mix with 2 ml Van Urk reagent and illuminate for 10 minutes with an ultraviolet lamp (black light). Psilocin gives a blue-grey, psilocybin a red-brown color. [Pg.56]

Drip the chloroform wash through the column and save the extract. Test continuously by evaporating a drop on clean glass until it ceases to flouresce under a black light. [Pg.120]

Since LSD is an indole derivative, it gives a positive reaction (violet color) to the tests given in the indole section. LSD also fluoresces under an ultraviolet light (black light), but so do many other compounds. For infrared spectra of LSD and related compounds, see JACS 78,3087(1956) and J. Forensic Sci. 12,538 (1967). For other information on identification see JPS 56,1526 (1967) and JAOAC 50,1362(1967), 51,1318(1968). For a microcrystalloscopic test see J. Pharm. Pharmacol. 22,839(1970). [Pg.122]

DETAILS - Aflatoxins are the poisonous product of a group of polynuclear molds that grow on peanuts, com and in cottonseed meal. They are responsible for the Turkey X" disease which occasionally devastates the poultry industry. The presence of the mold doesn t always indicate presence of the toxin. Toxin production is dependent on various factors such as moisture and temperature. There are two basic types of aflatoxins, both of which are fluorescent under UV (black) light. Once the mold has been identified, the UVI ight is an excellent way to check for toxin production. Aflatoxin B glows blue, while Aflatoxm G glows... [Pg.82]
