Transcription. Transcription is the process of reading coding regions within the DNA molecule and transcribing them into an mRNA molecule, performed by 

RNA polymerases, enzymes that are able to read the base pair information written in the DNA sequence. RNA polymerases use one strand of double-stranded DNA as a template to create the anti-sense strand represented by the developing RNA molecule.
