Biogeochemistry of Tropical Ecosystems

The tropical ecosystems occur between 30° N and 30° S. This belt receives about 60% of solar radiation inputting on the Earth s surface. The total area of tropical ecosystems is about 40 x 10 km, with exception of the High Mountain and Extra-Dry Sandy Deserts with strongly depressed life processes. 

The rates of biogeochemical processes in tropical ecosystems, especially in Tropical Rain Forest ecosystems, are the highest in comparison to other considered ecosystems. This is connected not only with the modern biospheric processes, but, to a great degree, with the history of geological and biological development in these areas.
