BINA-HDI copolymers

The preparation of BINA-HDI copolymer was carried out in a 500 ml flask filled with nitrogen and equipped with a mechanical stirrer, a thermometer and a condenser. The process used to synthesize this copolymer is presented in detail in Fig. 6.1. BINApowder (5.24 g) was added to the flask according to the composition, as given in Table 6.2. To dissolve the BINA, lOmL DMF was added using mechanical stirring. The equal molar HDI (4.19g) was then added to the flask. The oil temperature was increased to about 70°C in the first two hours. After 30 ntinutes, 0.02 wt.% of dibutyltin dilaurate (DBTDL) was added to the solution as a catalyst. The reaction started innnediately and a sigiuficant increase in viscosity... [Pg.131]
