Billet dimensions

The thermal conductivity was determined by laser-flash method (LFA447, Netzsch, German) with billets dimension of (pl2.7mmx2.5mm. The dielectric loss (land) was measured at IMHz by the perturbation meth(xl using a cavity resonator and a vector network analyzer (HP-4294A).

Technically, there is no length limit for parallel strand lumber since a continuous pressing operation is used. However, considering handling restrictions, PSL billets are usually cut to 20 m lengths, by up to 280 x 480 mm in section. The billets are recut to desired dimensions for use as beams, headers, columns, and studs. 

The preforms for rolling cut from submicron-grained billets were warm rolled in sheets at temperatures of 650-550°C preserving SMC structure. The sheet rolling was carried out by means of cross and pack rolling techniques using a duo rolling mill. The commercial size sheets with dimensions of 500 mm x 1500 mm x 2 mm were produced. 

Billet and Schultes [314] developed a plqrsical model for prediction of liquid holdup in two-phase countercurrent columns. The model is valid firr random and structured packinp and requires an experimental constant depending on the packing tyj and dimensions.
