Beryllium selenates

The stable form of beryllium selenate in contact with water at 298.15 K is Be-8e04-4H20. The selected solubility is based on the measurements in [2681D/LEW] and [838ER/KUD]  [Pg.393]

These results, which agree with [82WAG/EVA] within the uncertainties, are included in Appendix E since they were calculated with non-TDB auxiliary data. [Pg.394]

Beryllium Selenate, BeSeO. 4HjO.—Beryllium selenate was first prepared by Atterberg (1873 7 and 8) and has been also studied by Topsoe (1872 i). It is isomorphous with the sulphate and like the sulphate, loses water at 100 forming a dihydrate. According to Topsoe (1872 i) and Topsoe and Christiansen (1873 9), it crystallizes in the rhombohedral system, a b c—i 0.9602 0.9027, observed forms (on), (lOl),. (021), (in), (001). Cellulose is insol in w, ale, eth all known simple org solvs. The best solv for it is cuprammonium hydroxide, [Cu(NH3)4(OH)2], also called Schweitzer s Reagent. It is also sol in a coned soln of Ca thiocyanate alone or in combination with formaldehyde. Other solvs gelatinizers for cellulose include zinc chloride (in 40% soln on heating), basic beryllium perchlorate, 84% phosphoric acid, selenic acid, arsenic acid, sulfurous acid, 66% HBr, 70-75% HF, coned HI, chloral with pyridine, chloral hydrate in H2S04, and inorg salts(such as NaCl) in coned solns at high temps. Coned solns of NaOH at ca -10° only partially dissolve cellulose while the remainder is swelled "mercerized . [Pg.491]
