Benzene, nitroamination

Scheme 16 are easily distinguished by the different products obtained, and by the breaks in the LFER plots of the log ko values against mechanism changes.287 The O-protonation mechanism of Scheme 16 is preferred over the more obvious JV-protonation one on the basis of the observed m values.287 The further decomposition of the first-formed benzamide, benzene-sulfonamide and jV-nitroamine reaction products takes place as previously discussed. 

According to the vendor, ECGO has been used to treat a wide range of organic compounds including benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX), chlorinated solvents, pesticides, total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPHs), phenols, polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), and nitroamines. 

As described previously <1996CHEC-II(4)743>, nucleophilic substitution in the benzene ring of 2, l, 3-bcnzosclc-nadiazole is known. Amination of 4-nitrobenzo-2,l,3-selenadiazole 143 with hydroxylamine and potassium hydroxide gave nitroamine 144 in 79% yield (Equation 8) <2004JHC955>. 

A high ECD response to nitroamines permits the analysis to be performed at the pico-gram level. Frere and Verly [108] oxidized normetanephrine and related amines with periodate in aqueous medium. The aldehydes produced were extracted with benzene and analysed by GC. 

Oxidation of a nitroamine with (diacetoxyiodo)benzene (review [3714]) often gives better results in this cyclization than are obtained with hypochlorite.
