Almost any organization of any size is filled with its own tales of theory X and theory Y. The next section considers one true story in which an employee s behavior transformed dramatically with a change in management. 

Consider a manager you have worked for. Make a list of things he or she did that you would classify as theory X behavior, and make another list of things he or she did that you would classify as theory Y behavior. 

Systems in pharmacy management involve people, drug products, information, and money. All these factors are related to one another in some way and the care delivered by pharmacists is in some way affected by the behaviors or actions of each sysfem and each sysfem affects the behaviors and actions of others. Further, the classical theory of managemenf, in terms of the functions, can be depicted as an interrelated system (Figure 1.2). The concept of sysfems fheory is further discussed in Chapter 2.
