Batch Production Facilities

Especially for flexible batch applications, the batch logic must be properly structured in order to oe implemented and maintained in a reasonable manner. An underlying requirement is that the batch process equipment be properly structured. The following structure is appropriate for most batch production facilities. [Pg.755]

Many chemical batch production facilities are dedicated to producing a set of products that require for their manufacturing a common set of unit operations. The unit operations are performed in the same sequence for each product. This type of production problem is often solved by configuring the available equipment so that each unit operation is carried out by a fixed set of equipment items that are disjoint from those used in any other operation. If one unit is assigned to each step, this is called a flowshop (Baker, 1974). [Pg.273]

The aim of this section is to provide a generic step by step methodology for the design of a final purification process for a non-salt form API using crystallization. The process objective is to consistently manufacture API of the desired purity and polymorphic form, within the constraints of a typical batch production facility. A brief outline of the analytical techniques that may be required is presented in section 4.6. [Pg.44]

Another important area of process control systems is the ability to handle trend curves as part of production documentation. Recent software packages (called Historians) provide such capability over an extremely long time span and with batch production facilities which enable paperless handling of batch data that should be documented by graphical trend curves. Some... [Pg.22]

This was a big batch production facility. The batch size was driven by a sterilization unit (call it a monument) that was loaded to the max before the long cycle time required was started. This meant that all over the facility the associates were handling batches that they had to put onto the racks used in the sterilization unit and then someone else had to remove them from the... [Pg.120]
