Bacterium tularense

This clinical picture was observed for the first time in Tulare, Cali-fomia in 1911 (G.W McCoy). The causative pathogen was identified as Bacterium tularense by G.W McCoy et al. (1912) and WB. Wheery et al. (1914). The gram-negative, aerobic and non-motile Frandsella tularense is transmitted to hmnans by arthropods infected by sick rodents, directly by the rodents themselves or through contaminated water. [Pg.481]
