Automotive rear-view

Automotive rear view mirrors which adjust automatically their reflection are already on the international market (Gentex Bauer, 1984 Bechtel, 1990 Byker, 1990, 1992 Donelly Dornan, 1994 Murakami Yoshiaki, 1998). The switching time should be very short (a few seconds) and the EC-devices should bleach automatically in a few seconds without a voltage applied. A long-term stability of about 10 years and a minimum of 100,000 switching cycles are required. The requirements on the temperature and UV-stability depend on the interior (-40°C to 90°C, 500 h Xenon arc) or outside (1500 h Xenon arc) use (Lynam, 1988). [Pg.1928]

Another well-established use of UV/visible lighf curing adhesives is glass, a plastics bonding in the automotive industry. Typical applications are lamination of safety glass, fastening of rear-view mirrors to windshields, and assembly of headlights. ... [Pg.152]

The production of large-area EC-devices have been proposed for architectural, automotive and aerospace glazing, for the realization of automotive sunroofs, rear-view EC-mirrors and for EC-displays (Lampert, 1999). Further applications are EC-paper, EC-glasses, cathodic ray tubes (de Vries, 1999). An overview of the applications of EC-devices and the companies working on it is given by Lampert et al. (2003). The requirements are highly dependent on their use. [Pg.1927]
