Spreaders, automatic

So-called automatic spreaders have been developed to rationalise the coating of hundreds of plates daily (p. 58). The requirements of apparatus in such a laboratory are otherwise the same as described under 2. the apparatus is merely used more rationally. Centralisation, like with spectroscopy, is not however a desirable goal because TLC is a method carried out on the actual work bench of the research and works chemist. For him, it is the simplest, quickest and cheapest expedient for following chemical reactions and for testing purity and for identification. [Pg.84]

The automated spreading process is performed on special tables. The main parts of a spreading machine are a fabric spreader tmck, a fabric feed system, an automatic cutting device, an end-catchCT, an operator stand panel, an encoder system, and a control panel. [Pg.226]

There are two types of coihniercial motor-driven apparatus at present. In one, the spreader trough is carried over the row of plates by a motor drive (Firms 15, 35) in the other, the trough is fixed and the plates are passed beneath it using motor-driven rubber rollers (Firms 33, 54). A further development of the Stahl automatic apparatus permits the rational preparation of gradient layers [675] (Firm 44). This apparatus will have automatic devices for delivery, removal and stacking of plates so that they can be dried. [Pg.58]

Combines can be fitted with straw spreaders or choppers, which are helpful in dealing with the problem of straw disposal, although the mounted chopper can reduce combining speed as it requires more power. As combines get heavier, they are increasingly being fitted with tracks, to aid traction and reduce soil damage, as well as automatic steering systems. [Pg.310]

The emulsion, flowing from an upstream separator and possibly a heater, enters the top of the gas separation section of the gas boot. The gravity separation section removes flash gas and gas liberated as a result of heating the emulsion. The emulsion flows down the down-comer to a spreader, which is positioned below the oil-water interface. Exiting at the bottom of the down-comer, the emulsion rises to the top of the surrounding layer of water. The water level is controlled by a water leg or automatic level control. The emulsion passage through the water helps collect the entrained water and converts... [Pg.3]
