Automatic quality control

Such a subunit structure permits the construction of the virus partieles by a proeess in which the subunits self-assemble into structures held together by non-eovalent intermolecular forces as occurs in the process of erystallization. This eliminates the need for a sequenee of enzyme-catalysed reactions for coat synthesis. It also provides an automatic quality-control system, as subunits which may have major stmctural defects fail to become ineorporated into complete partieles. [Pg.55]

The film is wound to film rolls using a contact/surface winder with an option for automatic roll change (Fig. 9, 4). The production process can be controlled automatically, keeping meter weight and thickness distribution constant (Fig. 9, 5). This device enables automatic quality control in the production process. [Pg.120]

An automatic quality control system (spectroscopy) has to be installed in the production line to make sure that the separation and cleaning processes are working regularly. [Pg.59]

In sugar manufacture, automatic quality control is important, and in yeast production the molasses stream must be determined to have optimum sugar content. Here, too, the optical rotation of molasses is measured automatically in a continuous flow cell [38]. [Pg.457]

Relying on routinely collected data will often not provide sufficient scatter. With modem data collection systems it is a trivial exercise to assemble information collected over several years. Even if a laboratory sample is only taken daily, assembling a thousand or more sets of data should present no problem. However, unless the process is required to make multiple grades of the product, each with very different specifications, even without automatic quality control the process operator will have kept the quality very close to target. Any large deviations will usually be due to process upsets and may not provide any reliable steady-state information. [Pg.200]

In some distillation processes there are quahty requirements for both products. This does not mean, however, that both products should exactly meet the quality requirements. It may be profitable to reduce the loss of a more valuable product in the less valuable product to the extent that the purity exceeds the specification requirement. In practical operation, it is not veiy common to install automatic quality control on both products. Automatic quality control of one product also gives an improvement of the quality of the other product. [Pg.488]

Good colunm operation is possible with automatic quality control of the most valirable product. Since the quality controller maintains the purity of one product, the purity of the other product can only vary within certain bounds. The fifth correcting variable can, if so desired, be used to realize optimal process operation. [Pg.489]
