The ability to debrand a garment removes a barrier to the reuse of corporate clothing. At present, large volumes are mechanically shredded because of the security and corporate identity risks associated with reusing a garment that carries distinctive 

Complete disassembly of a garment is also desirable to allow homogeneous component sorting to be achieved. Such examples include the potential to remove polyester hning fabric and buttons from a wool coat at the end of life allowing each to be recycled separately.
