Auditing OSHA guidelines

Look around the bookshelves. There are many good recent books and articles on Chemical Process Safety theory and procedures. These texts offer sound advice on identifying chemical process hazard analysis, training, audits, and guidelines books addressing the elements of OSHA s Process Safety Management Law. However, only a few people such as Trevor A. Kletz offer many authentic case histories that provide opportunities to learn fundamentals in process safety. 

The OSHA audit guidelines state that the following questions will be asked [3]...

This OSHA Inspection manual covers process safety management (PSM) compliance guidelines, PSM audit guidelines, clarifications and interpretations of the PSM standard, and SIC codes targeted for the program quality verification inspections. 

OSHA has prepared a set of publicly available audit guidelines and questionnaires for use by their own CSHOs. Generally, these audit guidelines mimic the wording of the standard very closely. Frequently, the wording of the standard is simply reversed in order to create the audit question. Table 2.8 provides an example of one of these guidelines (in this case, for the Employee Participation element).
