Attached components

Isomers are distinguished by lettering the peripheral sides of the parent beginning with a for the side 1,2, and so on, lettering every side around the periphery. If necessary for clarity, the numbers of the attached position (1,2, for example) of the substituent ring are also denoted. The prefixes are cited in alphabetical order. Three or even four screens (at present we are temporarily limited by the number of counters) cannot determine the exact size of the large-size ("attached") component. Even though there appears to be a small peak at that size in the diffusion battery data (see fig. 4b and 5), it would be premature to speculate that about 20% activity has grown to the size of. 075y.

The present review complements and concludes the first part [97-AHC(68)223], which was devoted to the chemistry of C-nucleosides of hetero monocyclic bases. C-Nucleosides reviewed in this part were systematized according to the size and complexity of the base component, starting with those of simpler base components followed by more complex ones. Within a class of a particular base component, the arrangement also goes from less to more complex attached components. The C-nucleosides of a certain category are discussed first, followed by their analogs in the sequence homo, carbocyclic, reverse, and acyclo C-nucleosides [for definitions, see Part I, 97AHC(68)223]. To avoid redundancy, whenever the synthesis of a C-nucleoside of a condensed base comprised the elaboration of a C-nucleoside of a monocyclic base, the synthesis of the latter is usually not discussed, since it has already been mentioned in the first part of this review. The literature has been surveyed to Vol. 125, No. 7 (1996), of Chemical Abstracts and Vol. 142 No. 10 (1996), of the Index Chemicus.

For adhesive-attached components or chip devices that are electrically connected by wire, TAB, or ribbon, the leads must first be excised. In the case of solder-connected components, the solder is heated to its melt temperature and wicked off the part. 

Finally, once a failure site or failure mode had been found, a mechanism based on knowledge of electrical, chemical, and physical reactions can be postulated, simulated, and verified and corrective action taken. Figure 6.1 is a flow diagram of some tests used in a PoF study for electronic modules containing adhesive-attached components.

Sterilization. All devices implanted in the body or that come into contact with body fluids or blood must be sterilized and be resistant to the sterilization conditions. Adhesive-bonded parts are not used in direct contact with the body fluids. They are generally part of an electronic module that is hermetically sealed or otherwise encapsulated or shielded. However, the sterilization conditions for the module must not degrade the internal adhesive-attached components. Some adhesives such as cyanoacrylates andUV-cured acrylics degrade at the elevated temperatures and high humidity...
