I he volatile hydride —in this case, arsine (ASH3) —is swept into the atomization chamber by an inert gas. 1 hc chamber is usually a silica lube healed to several hundred degrees in a tube furnace or in a flame where decomposition of the hydride lakes place, leading to formation of atoms of the analyte. The concentration of the analyte is then measured by absorption or emission. The signal has a peak shape similar to that obtained with electrotliermal auimization. [Pg.226]

Another ETV system is a modified version of an AAS atomization chamber. The sample is placed on a pyrolytically coated graphite microboat supported by a carbon rod and its mounting assembly. The vaporization heating cycle is controlled by a programmable power supply. The vaporizer assembly is connected to the plasma by a PTFE tube (12 cm in length). [Pg.171]

The analyte is quantified by the difference between the radiation energy at a given wavelength in the absence of a sample, and the radiation energy in the presence of a sample in the atomization chamber. The amount of the analyte in the sample is thus proportional to the absorbed energy. To obtain... [Pg.520]
