The Treaty of Versailles prohibited Germany from seeking such assistance, but the 1922 Treaty of Rapallo that ended the conflict between Germany and Russia had no such prohibition. Both countries exploited this situation. Bersol was one outgrowth of that assistance. [Pg.26]
