Assessment Of The CSTR Under Upset Operating Conditions

1 Assessment Of The CSTR Under Upset Operating Conditions [Pg.223]

When performing the safety assessment of a CSTR which has deviated firom normal operating conditions due to a cooling failure, it may be assumed that the reactor was previously been operated in a steady state. This state is characterized by the desired set conversion Xs. For the CSTR the following is valid  [Pg.223]

The further procedure shall be explained for the sample case of a second-order reaction. For this case the steady state mass balance of the isothermal CSTR is equal to (see also Table 4-4 in Section 4.1.5)  [Pg.223]

If in course of the assessment it has been determined, for example, that temperatures above 155°C have definitely to be avoided in the case of any maloperation, then it [Pg.224]

However, if selectivity or quality aspects demand a performance of the process at much lower temperatures, this raises the question which parameters should reasonably be changed to lower the MTSR curve. [Pg.225]
