Aromatic nitrogen ligands

In the late 1970s, Buhr and Taube demonstrated a nitrido coupling reaction in which treatment of [Os(NH3)5(CO)]2+ by Ce(IV) generated [ Os(NH3)4(CO) 2(/u,-N2)]4+ in high yield (58). Work in this area has recently been extended to complexes of aromatic nitrogen ligands ... [Pg.341]

The complexes where X is an aromatic nitrogen ligand have been characterized crystallographically, and the metal valences appear localized in the crystalline state as evidenced by the distinct differences in iron-ligand bond lengths (Table II). Typically the Fe -p.-0 bond is 1.95 A, while the Fe"- x-0 bond is 2.10 A. These longer Fe-jt-O distances result in a larger Fe-Fe separation of 3.4 A, which is comparable to those observed for semimetHrNs and MMO ,v from EXAFS spectra. [Pg.136]
