Applications of rubber toughened polyamide

Commercial impact modified polyamides typically contain 10-25% of the reactive or compatible elastomer in order to maximize the toughening efficiency while still retaining a high level of tensile strength and DTUL. Commercial impact modified PA blends (Table 8.2) indeed offer a unique combination of high notched Izod impact and drop [Pg.247]

However, both materials are widely used in many engineering and metal replacement applications because of their unique combination of toughness, heat, and chemical resistance. Because of their good melt flow characteristics most of the impact modified polyamides are typically processed by injection molding, althou the blow molding and extruded profile applications are also emerging. [Pg.248]

However, it is now a common practice to use the commercial, pre-functionalized rubbers for polyamide blending to achieve a more consistent blending process and product properties. The extruder residence time is utilized for achieving the desired degree of grafting and throughput. [Pg.251]
