Antibiotic growth effect characteristics

Antibiotic feed additives, antibiotic resistance controversy, 5-6 Antibiotic growth effect characteristics, 113t vs. contamination, 113,1l4t vs. disease level, 1l4-115t Antibiotic residues... [Pg.183]

The oral administration of antibiotics resulted in the production of germfree characteristics with respect to propachlor metabolism in rats ( ) and pigs (31), i.e. no 2-methylsulfonyl acetanilides were formed and only MAP metabolites were excreted. This observation may have economic implications. It is possible that the growth stimulation observed upon incorporation of antibiotics into animal feed could be effected by the suppression of such mechanisms. This could be accomplished either by the prevention of the metabolic formation of new xenobiotics of unknown biological activities or by the conservation of detoxication energy or both. [Pg.170]

The same effect of bacterial contaminations was observed with an electronic nose equipped with CP sensors in an antibiotic fermentation with Micro-monospora carbonacea [34]. Infections of E. coli and Gram-positive bacteria can be discriminated in the plot. The same culture also exhibited characteristic response patterns at the different fermentation stages over a nine-day period. The character of the trajectory in the PCA mirrored the growth phase, the antibiotic synthesis phase as well as the declination phase. The starting point of the trajectory almost coincided with the end point. [Pg.80]
