Since its withdrawal, thalidomide has been found to be effective in the treatment of erythema nodosum lepro-sum, and in 1997 it was marketed in the USA for this indication. The mechanism of action of thalidomide is stiU unclear (1,2), but it has many anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory actions in vitro and in vivo (3,4). [Pg.3343]
