Anchoring strength parameter

Here 50 is the angle between the easy direction e and the director n at the nematic/wall interface. The anchoring strength parameter A determines the ability of the surface director to deviate from the easy direction. [Pg.307]

In Figs. 4 we plot the stretched exponential parameter m as a function of p and w. We do not observe any systematic changes in behaviour of m below and above the percolation threshold on varying p. Indeed, values of m are strongly scattered because the structural details of G r) are relatively weakly -dependent. The parameter m appears always to be essentially independent of the impurity concentration p. For h initial conditions it is also independent of the anchoring strength w. In all cases m is close to unity. Only for r initial conditions do we see any noticeable dependence on w. This dependence only occurs at low w, at increases m up to about 1.4. [Pg.118]

Here W2 is the strength of the interaction and Qs is the preferred value of the tensor order parameter at the substrate, located at z = zs- In the case of uniaxial nematic order the anchoring strength W2 can be related to the anchoring strength W for the bare director description as W = 3iC2 S. ... [Pg.271]

Specific supporting parameters are illustrated in Figure 3 M24-22 mm x 2400-type anchor bolt which is composed of high strength twist steel and >17.8 mm x 6500-type anchor cable. The space between anchor bolts should be controlled at 800 mm x 800 mm. The pre-tension torque of the anchor bolts is designed to be more than 300 N m. Also, 12 rhombic metal mesh and W steel belt are used in the supporting system and the spray layer should be 30-50 mm thick. [Pg.925]

Clearly the ability of the geosynthetic to interface with the soil and be anchored by it is a key element in the transfer of the tensile force and hence performance of the reinforced soil structure. Thus soil-geosynthetic interaction, or interface friction, becomes critical as it governs the soil-fabric bonding strength. The required embedded length or bond length is determined by this parameter. [Pg.317]
