ANALYTICAL METHODS OF SERUM LIPOPROTEINS BY HPLC 2.1. Column 

A silica gel or synthetic polymer based gel permeation column for HPLC is supplied from Toyo Soda Mfg. Co. (Tokyo) as TSK GEL, SW type and PW type. 

At present, resolution in the small particle size range of the SW type column is superior to that of the PW type column. Therefore, we use the column system containing G4000SW and/or G3000SW for separation of small size lipoproteins such as HDL. The lifespan of the column for the PW type may be superior to that of the SW type, and the use of a guard column may increase the lifespan of the column.
