Analog pulses

Eventually this technology, generally referred to as field bus, will replace all other forms of transmission (analog, pulse, and serial). Its acceptance by the user community has been slow, mainly due to the absense of a standard. Adjust the s ampling point (delay and phase setting) in the FED for the digitization of the analog pulse. 

The results of the analog pulse height calibration are given in Fig. 8.19. The gain and pedestals are obtained from a linear fit. The tail in the pedestal distribution is due to mlsconfiguration of individual ROCs which was recovered at a later stage of detector calibration. 

The pixel detector is built from 3 barrel layers at radii of 4.4, 7.3 and 10.2cm and two end disks on each side at a distance of z = 34.5, 46.5 cm from the interaction point. It consists of 1,440 segmented silicon sensor modules with a total of 66 million readout channels. For each pixel the analog pulse height information is detected and read out. 

The concentration in this section has been on digital pulse modulation methods. Analog pulse modulation, whereby some attribute of a pulse is made to vary in a one-to-one correspondence with the signal samples.
