Aminoguanidine sulfate

If aminoguanidine sulfate is available, the first part of this preparation may be omitted and 61.5 g. of the sulfate treated with formic acid as directed in the second paragraph. [Pg.12]

Tetrazene (7.14) is prepared by dissolving sodium nitrite in distilled water and warming to 50-55 °C. An acidic solution of aminoguanidine sulfate is then added and the mixture stirred for 30 min. A precipitate of tetrazene forms, which is decanted, washed with water and then alcohol, and dried at 45-50 °C. [Pg.140]

The rate at which the aminoguanidine sulfate is added to the solution of sodium nitrite determines the size of the tetrazene crystals. If the aminoguanidine sulfate is added quickly, small crystals are formed, whereas large crystals are formed when the solution is introduced slowly. Dextrin can be added to the reacting solution to obtain a more uniform crystal size. [Pg.140]

Dimethylpyrazole has been prepared from acetylacetone and hydrazine hydrate in ethanol3 or hydrazine sulfate in aqueous alkali.4 6 The latter method is preferred, because the reaction with hydrazine hydrate is sometimes violent.3 4 3,5-Dimethyl-pyrazole has also been prepared by hydrolysis and decarboxylation of the 1-carbamido- or 1-carboxamidine derivatives, obtained by reaction of semicarbazide 7 or aminoguanidine 8 with acetylacetone. [Pg.44]

Aminoguanidine can be prepared in high yield by addition of hydrazine to cyanamide a simple procedure starting from disodium cyanamide and hydrazine sulfate is given by Fantl and Silbermann.46... [Pg.408]

Tetrazene is produced by the reaction of an aminoguanidine salt (aminoguanidine is not soluble in water the most frequently used are sulfate, carbonate, or nitrate) with sodium nitrite [2, 13, 14, 17, 22]. The reaction of aminoguanidine with sodium nitrite can produce three different compounds depending on the environment [23] ... [Pg.192]

ATZ was first successfully prepared by Thiele by diazotization of aminoguanidine nitrate. Aminoguanidine salts (nitrate, carbonate, sulfate) are used for synthesis because free aminoguanidine has low stability. The intermediate azidoformamidine is sufficiently stable to be isolated. The cyclization of azidoformamidine by heating with sodium acetate, sodium carbonate, diluted acid, or an aqueous solution of ammonia yields 5-ATZ [28, 29, 32-34]. [Pg.195]
