Amino sugars Ammonium acetate

The most effective separations of amino sugars have been obtained with cellulose thin-layers. Faillabd and Cabezas [37] report the separation of N-acetylneuraminic acid from the N-glycolyl derivative on cellulose MN 300 with the solvent systems ethanol-water-concentrated ammonium hydroxide (80 + 20 + 1) (hi / 37 and 30 respectively) and n-butanol-propanol-0.1 N hydrochloric acid (25 + 50 + 25) (hi / 49 and 39 respectively). Glucosamine and muramic acid are resolved on the same solid phase by double development with butanol-pyridine-glacial acetic acid-water (60 + 45 + 4 + 30) [38]. [Pg.817]
