Geysen [22] prepared a new a-substituted linker (10, ANP) from 3-amino-3-(2-nitrophenyl)propionic acid. This ANP resin, distinguished by its a-substituted junction to the resin, showed good photolytic activity (80% yield) after 20 h of irradiation at 365 nm. The drawback of the ANP linker-unwanted P-elimination of the amide-was rectified by Schreiber [23] by substituting the 3-amino-2,2-dimethyl-3-(2-nitrophenyl)propionic acid-derived linker 11. Photolysis in 4 1 H20-MeOH resulted in 86% amide release after 4h of irradiation.
