The syntheses of terf-butylperoxycarbamates begins with terf-butylperoxide and CDI, forming in 92% yield the surprisingly stable (at room temperature) tert-butylperoxy-carbonylimidazole, which is then converted with an amine. This synthesis might also be carried out as a one-pot procedure [176],[2251...

Isobutylamine and 2-phenylethylamine can be prepared by the Gabriel synthesis tert-butyl-amine, A-methylbenzylamine, and aniline cannot. 

Recent efforts in the development of efficient routes to highly substituted yS-ami-no acids based on asymmetric Mannich reactions with enantiopure sulfmyl imine are worthy of mention. Following the pioneering work of Davis on p-tolu-enesulfmyl imines [116], Ellman and coworkers have recently developed a new and efficient approach to enantiomerically pure N-tert-butanesulfmyl imines and have reported their use as versatile intermediates for the asymmetric synthesis of amines [91]. Addition of titanium enolates to tert-butane sulfmyl aldimines and ketimines 31 proceeds in high yields and diastereoselectivities, thus providing general access to yS -amino acids 32 (Scheme 2.5)... 

A parallel solution-phase asymmetric synthesis of a-branched amines has been reported by Ellman and coworkers based on stereoselective addition of organomag-nesium reagents to enantiomerically pure tert-butanesulfinyl imines [156]. Micro-wave heating was utilized in two of the steps of this synthesis of asymmetric amines, both for the imine formation and for the resin capture (Scheme 7.128). 

An interesting solid-state synthesis of amides has also been reported in a MW oven that uses potassium tert-butoxidc and easily accessible reagents, nonenolizable esters and amines [83].
