Halides, aryl reaction with amines

Palladium-catalyzed cyclization reactions with aryl halides have been used to synthesize pyrazole derivatives. V-Aryl-lV-(c>-bromobenzyl)hydrazines 26 participated in a palladium-catalyzed intramolecular amination reaction to give 2-aryl-2W-indazoles 27 . Palladium-catalyzed cascade intermolecular queuing-cyclocondensation reaction of o-iodophenol (28) with dimethylallene and aryl hydrazines provided pyrazolyl chromanones 29 <00TL7129>. A novel one-pot synthesis of 3,5-disubstituted-2-pyrazolines 32 has been achieved with an unexpected coupling-isomerization sequence of haloarene 30, propargyl alcohol 31, and methylhydrazine <00ACIE1253>. [Pg.169]

There has been a review of the effects of high pressure on the substitution reactions of amines with haloaromatic compounds, including polyhalobenzenes.17 Nucleophilic substitutions by amines often proceed readily in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). The pAa values, in DMSO, have been reported for some ammonium ions derived from amines widely used as nucleophiles in, S Ar reactions.18 Correlations have been established19 between the oxidation potentials and the basicities of some arylamine and diarylamine anions and the rate constants for their reactions with aryl halides in DMSO. [Pg.243]

In most of the mechanistic schemes described below, the ligands on palladium have been omitted for the sake of clarity and simplicity. However, the nature of the ligands is often crucial for the reactivity and selectivity of palladium catalysts. For example, in many instances Pd-catalyzed amination reactions of aryl halides provide low yields with PPh,-ligated palladium complexes but proceed in excellent yields when catalysts bearing bulky electron-rich hgands are employed (see Section 1.7.1 below). Thus, the choice of the appropriate catalysVhgand is often crucial for success in these reactions. [Pg.3]

Cross-coupling reactions leading to the formation of C-X (X = heteroatom) bonds catalyzed by Pd(dba)2 have been reported. Aniline derivatives have been prepared via reaction of amine nucleophiles with aryl halides in the presence of Pd(dba)2 and phosphines, especially P( Bu)3. Likewise, diaryl and aryl alkyl ethers are produced from aryl halides (Cl, Br, I) and sodium aryloxides and alkoxides under similar conditions. Conditions effective for the coupling of aryl chlorides with amines, boronic acids, and ketone enolates using an easily prepared phosphine chloride as a ligand have recently been uncovered (eq 22). The preparation of aryl siloxanes and allyl boronates via Pd(dba)2-catalyzed C-Si and C-B coupling have been reported as well. [Pg.6]

When allene derivatives are treated with aryl halides in the presence of Pd(0), the aryl group is introduced to the central carbon by insertion of one of the allenic bonds to form the 7r-allylpalladium intermediate 271, which is attacked further by amine to give the allylic amine 272. A good ligand for the reaction is dppe[182]. Intramolecular reaction of the 7-aminoallene 273 affords the pyrrolidine derivative 274[183]. [Pg.166]

The reaction of amines with aryl halides requires a catalyst in most cases to initiate the reaction. There are several approaches that result in N-aryl amines. Treatment of cyclohexylamine with p-MeC6H4B(OH)2 and Cu(OAc)2 gave the N-aryl amide in 63% yield. Aryl halides react with amines in the presence of palladium... [Pg.502]

Hartwig and Buchwald have developed a new methodology for arylation of amines or phenols with aryl halides and palladium catalysts.17 This reaction provides a very useful strategy for the preparation of various heterocyclic compounds such as phenazines, as shown in Scheme 9.4.18... [Pg.306]

The reaction of benzotriazoles with aryl halides catalyzed by a mixture of Pd(dppe)Cl2 (DPPE = bis-(diphenylphosphino)ethane) or Pd(dppf)Cl2, copper(I)iodide or copper(II)carboxylates, and a phase-transfer catalyst has been shown to proceed in good yield in DMF solvent.104 Both copper and palladium were required for these reactions to occur at the N-l position in high yields. Similar results for the coupling of amines with aryliodonium salts in aqueous solvent were observed.105... [Pg.381]

Amines are generally prepared by nucleophilic amination, which is a coupling of carbon electrophiles with a nucleophilic amination reagent, NR2, and Ni and Pd catalyzed reaction of aryl halides with arylamines (Hartwig-Buchwald amination) . Thus, the direct C—N bond formation between carbon nucleophiles and electrophilic nitrogen functionality R2N+ constitutes an example of the umpolung methodology. [Pg.304]
