Amines blocking

Step in the dehydration phase is rate determining when the reaction is carried out in acid solution If the solution is too acidic however protonation of the amine blocks step 1 Therefore there is some optimum pH usually about 5 at which the reaction rate is a maximum Too basic a solution reduces the rate of step 4 too acidic a solution reduces the rate of step 1... [Pg.726]

A large number of diugs interfere with the smooth muscle contraction. These compounds lower blood pressure and are referred to as antihypertensive. In this section, only those coumpounds will be mentioned that have a direct effect on smooth muscle tone. Phenylephrine is an agonist on most smooth muscles and activates ax adrenoceptors. Carbachol is an agonist on some smooth muscles and activates contraction through muscarinic receptors. Blockers of the ax-adrenoceptors such as prazosin and urapidil are competitive inhibitors of the ax-receptor in vascular and bladder smooth muscle. Phenoxybenzamine is an ineversible blocker of ax receptors and phentol-amine blocks ax and a2 receptors. Ca2+ channel blockers such as the dihydropyiidines, phenylalkyla-mines and benzothiazepines lower smooth muscle tone by blocking the L-type calcium channel. [Pg.1145]

A succinylated casein derivative that has nearly all its amines blocked can be used as a substrate in protease assays (Hatakeyama et al., 1992). As the casein is degraded by a protease, free amines are created from a-chain cleavage and release of a-amino groups. The creation of... [Pg.103]

Figure 15.9 The reaction of the amine-blocked derivative of 3-hydroxypropylamine with ethylmalonyl chloride gives an ethylmalonate-protected-amine compound, which can be used in the Bingel reaction to create an amine group on a fullerene surface. Reaction with Cfl in the presence of I2 and DBU gives the cyclopropanation product that can be deprotected with TFA to yield the free amine. As a matter of fact, the synthesis of polyaminomacrocycles or/and multi-heteromacrocycles often needs the step of deprotection of amines blocked under the form of tosyl (Ts) or mesylamide (Ms). The electrochemical method was revealed [85, 86] to be very well adapted to applying deprotection in a very mild and selective... [Pg.352]

We have called these catalysts man-made but this is not strictly true. We have not violated the general principal that, if you want chiral molecules, you will have to get them with the assistance of previously formed natural products. Our asymmetry was obtained from the (-)-menthol used in the chiral phosphane synthesis, but being a catalyst, a small amount of (-)-menthol could lead to a large amount of chiral product. CAMP worked equally well for the L-dopa precursor (Fig. 2), and it made no difference whether the amine-blocking group was benzoyl or acetyl. [Pg.28]

The Inifer process developed by Kennedy can be used to functionalize vinyl monomers via a cationic route by initiating a polymerization with an alkyl halide-boron trichloride mixture R BCl. The termination by transfer to an alkyl halide leaves a halide-terminated polymer. This can be transformed to a hydroxyl terminal unit via the sequence (1) dehydrohalogenation, (2) hydroboration, and (3) oxidation and hydrolysis (Equation 5.24). These co-functional blocks may be coupled to form diblock copolymers using standard reaction techniques, e.g., diisocyanate will couple cohydroxy and co-amine blocks together. Direct reactions can also occur, and co-acid chlorides combine readily with co-hydroxy units. [Pg.140]

This Strategy would seem too laborious for practical purposes. It requires the incorporation of each residue in blocked and activated form and removal of the amine-blocking group after each chain lengthening step. [Pg.129]

The self-assembling process involves noncovalent or weak interactions (van der Waals, electrostatic, and hydrophobic interactions, hydrogen and coordination bonds, and r-7T stacking). This process corresponds to a variation of reversed pore structures. Most ordered mesoporous materials are derived from the thermodynamically stable and ordered a regates spontaneously driven by the noncovalent interactions between molecules. These aggregates come from the cationic, anionic and nonionic surfactants, neutral amines, block copolymers, or their mixtures (Figure 13.1). They are disordered on the atomic or... [Pg.277]
