American exercise styles

In addition to the traditional European and American exercise styles, swaptions are also available Bermudan-style, which allows the owner to exercise the swaption on a set of prespecified dates. This style is in between American and European style, hence the use of the geographic epithet Bermudan. Such swaptions are often linked to bonds or swaps, with the permitted exercise dates matched to the coupon dates of the underlying instrument.
