The constitution of the dimeric form of aluminium trimethyl [A1(CH3)3]2 presents a new problem. Here the hydrogen atoms of the methyl groups might be involved in bridge formation Al—C H -Al.

Cross-alkylations have been reported on a number of occasions. In alien Fallen, gleich ob es sich um Halogenalan-Ather- oder-Trimethyl-amin-Addukte handelt, treten Aluminium und WasserstofE bei Tempera-turen zwischen 150—200°C als Folge des thermischen Zerfalls der in den Gleichgewichten vorliegenden A1H3-Addukte auf (115,220).
