Alkylamido complexes

The extensive chemistry of amido complexes, and, more particularly, of alkylamido complexes, reveals that the planar form is almost invariably found, along with bridging amides (221). Much attention has been paid to the synthesis of metal amido complexes of early transition metals, lanthanides and actinides. The amido group, particularly where it is bulky, confers unusual low coordination numbers on the metals and can also produce materials with considerable kinetic stability toward attack by nucleophiles (42, 67). However, the relevance of this extensive and fascinating chemistry to nitrogen fixation is somewhat problematic. [Pg.264]

Bulky titanium alkylamido complexes are capable of equilibrating with aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons via concerted 1,2-elimination/l,2-addition processes a Ti=NR imido species is formed as a transient intermediate. Kinetic parameters suggest a four-center transition state with an almost linear NHR arrangement 122... [Pg.1201]

Late-transition-metal-amido complexes have been prepared by metathetical substitution reactions, or-bonded ligand exchange, deprotonation of amine complexes, and oxidative addition of N-H bonds. Metathetical substitution is the most common route to late-metal-alkylamido complexes, whereas metathetical substitution and a-bonded ligand exchange have both been used commonly to prepare arylamido compounds. [Pg.150]

A series of 4-alkylamido-2-hydroxybenzoic acids containing a different number of carbon atoms in the alkyl-amido group has been studied as model ligands for metal ion extraction in aqueous micellar solutions of nonionic surfactants. Their acid-base properties and reactivity towards metal ions in the presence of micelles were investigated. By operating at a proper temperature, the separation of the iron (III) chelate complexes into a micellar rich phase was achieved and the extraction efficiency was correlated with the ligand hydrophobicity. [Pg.152]

The synthesis of the dibenzyl bis(alkylamido)phenylborane complex Ti(GH2Ph)2(ButN-BPh-NBut) (Scheme 60) has been described and its molecular structure determined by X-ray diffraction methods.129... [Pg.347]

The most important shampoo hair conditioners are the alkylamido alkylamines. As a rule, they are complex mixtures derived from the reaction of alkyl-substituted imidazolines with chlo-roacetic acid or ethyl acrylate [8]. Similar to the acylated protein derivatives, these amphoteric surfactants exhibit detergency, are compatible with anionic detergents, and reportedly form complex salts with anionics. These complexes reportedly do not sting the eyes and are employed in baby shampoos. These amphoterics in combination with anionic detergents leave the hair conditioned after rinsing. [Pg.223]
