Alignment horizontal

In many practical applications, condensation occurs on a column of vertically aligned horizontal tubes. In such a case, as illustrated in Fig. 11.16, the condensate cascades from tube to tube down the column of tubes. If the flow remains laminar, the heat transfer rate from lower tubes will decrease because of the thickening condensate film. [Pg.577]

The 2/4 soap/acid molecular complex may be structured with two binding patterns (10). The acid carboxylic groups may be aligned horizontally, Fig. la, or vertically, Fig. lb. For our present evaluation, only the vertical alignment will be examined it offers distinct advantages for the inclusion of water (11). [Pg.35]

The papillary fibroblasts are stimulated directly. They will produce a layer of collagen that can differentiate histologically from the collagen that is naturally present in the papillary dermis. The fibrils of the new collagen are aligned horizontally. This more complex process of skin regeneration can give rise to more complications than more superficial peels. [Pg.329]

For the production of thin anode functional layers and electrolyte layers when producing planar solid oxide fuel cells, a modified slip casting process is used. Here, the suspension is applied on a planar, porous anode substrate in a special apparatus as shown in Fig. 21.17. The solvent is drawn through the pores by a vacuum. When the substrate is aligned horizontally, the solids of the suspension deposit evenly on the surface. This process to manufacture thin layers has the following advantages ... [Pg.765]

Thus we examined htmdreds of nematic DLC compounds. We successfully found the way to control the hybrid alignment of DLC compounds as follows. (Fig. 4.10). Near a hydrophilic surface of alignment layer, DLCs tend to align horizontally that means face-on towards the interface. The other interface contacts with air, which is hydrophobic, and the molecules orient edge-on with the discus surface perpendicular to the interface. [Pg.99]

Other submerged HF are potted in a frame and aligned horizontally in a curtain arrangement (Fig. 10.3b) and permeate is withdrawn from both ends. Again the fibers have a degree of looseness that promotes a swaying movement to control fouling. Table 10.2... [Pg.247]
