Aleurites cordata

Derivation From the seeds of Aleurites cordata, a tree indigenous to China. It is now produced in China, Argentina, and Paraguay U.S. production has been virtually discontinued. [Pg.1293]

Tung Oil China wood oil. A drying oil from seeds of Aleurites cordata Steud. Euphorbiaceae indigenous to China and Japan, but now grown also in Florida- Chief fatty acid component is eleostearic acid. Unlike linseed and soybean oils, it need not be refined. [Pg.1543]

The genus Aleurites consists of only 6 species, all of which are native to tropical and subtropical Southeast Asia. They are trees of varying size. However, only A. cordata and A. montana are important sources of - t. oil. Both species are native to China, where A. montana is found in the warmer, subtropical regions. It has been introduced to several tropical countries, with best productivity only at higher elevations. [Pg.310]
