Enzymes catalyzing the same reaction but obtained from different sources may have very different properties, but usually operate by the same mechanism, an exception being D-fructose 1,6-diphosphate lyase (aldolase). Caution must, therefore, be observed in correlating mechanistic evidence derived for enzymes from different sources. 

Metals are used not only as labels in histochemistry and immunochemistry, but also for studying protein structure and properties. Some metal ions can serve as valuable probes by replacing the original ions in different metaloenzymes or other metaloproteins. Some properties of this crystalline material have been investigated (Henrotte, 1954). Its molecular weight is 67,000, thus differing very much from the values of 160,(XX) of rabbit myogen A and B (Gralen, 1939 Bailey, 1940) it has no aldolase or phosphoglyceraldehyde dehydrogenase activities, and its function in the metabolism of the cell is still unknown.
