Alcohols butanol

A wide selection of amino resin compositions is commercially available. They are all alkylated to some extent in order to provide compatibiUty with the other film formers, and formulation stabiUty. They vary not only in the type of amine (melamine, urea, ben2oguanamine, and glycolutil) used, but also in the concentration of combined formaldehyde, and the type and concentration of alkylation alcohol (/ -butanol, isobutyl alcohol, methanol).

The most widely used complexing agents are alcohols (butanol, n-propyl alcohol and n-pentyl alcohol1). Schoch33 now recommends the use of Pen-tasol, a commercial mixture of pentyl alcohols, for the first precipitation, and 1-butanol for recrystallizations. For com (maize) starch, this avoids contamination of the amylopectin with an intermediate fraction which is sufficiently linear to be precipitated with Pentasol and yet has a degree of branching which prevents complex formation with butanol.

The dehydration of n-butyl alcohol (butanol) over an alumina-silica catalyst was investigated by J. F. Maurer (Ph.D. thesis. University of Michigan)).The data in Figure PlO-5 were obtained at 750°F in a modified differential reactor. The feed eonsisted of pure butanol. 

It is rather difficult to assess which peaks are generated exclusively from the poly(vinyl butyral) component and which are generated from the other components. It is likely that the acetic acid is formed from the acetate. Other components are consistent with the decomposition of the acetal that behaves somehow similar to an ether. However, the formation of the hydrocarbon (butane) is significantly reduced, as well as that of the alcohol (butanol). On the other hand, the formation of the corresponding aldehyde (butanal) is significant. 

The first accurate measurements with ILs concern the salt C6mimBF4 and two isomers of the alcohols butanol, and pentanol [103], The coexistence curves shown in Fig. 4, which include the measurements of the solutions in water, show corresponding states behavior.

Thiophene can be prepared (i) by suifurization-cyclization of hydrocarbons (butane, butene or butadiene) or of alcohols (butanol, butanediol-1,4) (ii) by substitution of the oxygen by sulphur in the molecule of furan or (iii) by cyclization of linear sulflded compounds (diethylsulfide for instance).
